Google Certification!

Hey guys!

Something very exciting to share with you this week! I was recently Google certified with Google Partners in Google Analytics! Now you’re probably asking.. Why am I sharing this with all of you? I take pride in sharing tips & tricks to surviving college with all of you; this is no different!

If you’re anything like me, your resume needs some serious love! I am so excited to add this certification onto my resume! Certification on a resume, especially from Google is a sure sign to employers about your competence in Web Analytics. Certification on Google products is known as not being “that easy” to achieve. I personally spent a total of 2 entire days preparing, researching, and studying for this certification!

If you’re interested this exam is completely free (college budget friendly!), and does not take that much time to complete if you’re prepared (as you should be for any exam)! I recommend watching the videos, studying the material, and making sure that you’re absolutely ready before you begin. I should also add that if you do not score an 80% or higher, you will have to wait a week before trying again!

This will help my career in communications due to now having really great understanding of how to use GA professionally, inquisitively and intellectually. I will be able to tap into features that I can offer to your employer that they may have voiced as a need or concern (but unaware of how to do it or if it was possible).

Networking at the Superior Awards

sspawardssp awards

Hey guys!

This past week I went to the Superior Awards here at Grand Valley. As an Advertising and Public Relations major, and having fellow classmates that were receiving awards I wanted to take part at the event! The Superior Awards are a way celebrate the outstanding work of students within the APR program. Everyone was in great spirits, and dressed their best!

Before the awards took place, Amanda St. Pierre spoke about her profession, and new PR firm that she would be opening. I thought it was a great opportunity, as well as inspiring to hear her tell her story; and was now well enough off that she could open up her own business. I was also super excited because a classmate in my CAP 220 class, won an award for his Campaign project! After the awards were over I decided that next year I want to submit a piece of my work!

Networking at the Career Center

Hey guys!

This past week I visited the Career Center at the Downtown Grand Valley campus. I was able to meet with Valerie where we discussed the content of my resume. Since  I am approaching graduation soon I wanted to make sure that my resume was perfect for my potential employers!

Valerie suggested that I delete some of the contents of my resume (like high school experience, and awards) as they’re irrelevant now that I will be graduating. She also gave me a resume builder pamphlet to take home so that I could pick a professional style for my resume. We also discussed volunteer experience that she recommend I add to show how involved I have been while going to school full time.

For this blog post I entered a few words that I normally use when writing my posts, to my surprise I found that some of those words have low global monthly searches! (Which means I will have a hard time getting this blog shared) To give you a better understanding of the words that I changed I “bolded” the words that according to the Google Keyword Planner people like you search more often in comparison to words that I would normally use.

Now you may ask why do I need to know this? Well, now that I was made aware of the keywords that I should be posting more often, I will be able to reach more viewers like yourself!

Key words Google picked, and their global monthly searches-Bronzer (1M-10M), Gym(1M-10M), Primer (100K- 1M), Professional Make-up (100K-1M), House Cleaning Service (10K-100K)

Key words I picked, and their global monthly searches-Pinterest (1M-10M), Make-up (1M-10M), Fitness (1M-10M), Clean (100K-1M), Organization (100K-1M)
